School Nurse (RN) – Elementary | Illinois

In-Person | Immediate Start – End of School Year

We are seeking a qualified and compassionate School Nurse (RN) to support an elementary school (grades K–5) in Illinois. This full-time, in-person position begins as soon as possible and runs through the end of the current school year. The School Nurse will play a vital role in promoting student health, safety, and wellness while supporting students with medical needs, IEPs, and 504 plans.

The School Nurse will provide daily health services to students, manage chronic and acute medical needs, administer medications, and respond to student health concerns throughout the school day. Responsibilities include supporting students with IEPs and 504 plans, maintaining accurate health records, coordinating care with families and school staff, conducting health screenings as needed, and ensuring compliance with district and state health regulations. The nurse will also promote a safe and healthy school environment and collaborate with educators and administrators to support student success.

Responsibilities for School Nurse:

• Update students' medical history with diligence.
  
• Maintain accurate vaccination records for students.
  
• Provide essential healthcare to students in case of injury or acute illness.
  
• Conduct regular screenings to detect health problems in their early stages.
  
• Develop comprehensive health plans for students with chronic illnesses and disabilities.
  
• Ensure compliance with national and local health laws, prioritizing the well-being of all.
  
• Educate students and staff on the importance of healthy habits, including nutrition and hygiene.
  

Requirements

• BLS CPR/AED Certification.
  
• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  
• Hearing and vision screening certification preferred (not required).
  
• Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) – School Nurse endorsement.
