REI is a different kind of company. As a co-op, we put purpose before profits and act in the long-term interests of our members. We believe time outside is fundamental to a life well lived, and as a member of the Product team, you’ll contribute to REI’s mission to connect every person to the power of the outdoors and engage them in the fight to protect it.

We’re seeking a Principal Product Manager to manage our Agentic Commerce initiatives. This role needs a visionary product manager with a proven record of creating innovative, customer-facing experiences using AI. Your expertise will help transform REI’s customer journey across digital platforms and third-party agent ecosystems.

This is a unique chance to shape how new technologies change customer expectations. You will set a clear, customer-focused vision and strategy. Then you will bring it to life. This is a key strategic focus for REI. You will have significant exposure to senior leadership.

  • In this role, you will work closely with product management peers, architects, engineers, design managers, data scientists, executives, and stakeholders across the Co-op.

  • Join a dynamic, fast-paced, and passionate community.

  • You will be empowered to set best practices, deliver impactful solutions, and advance the mission of the Co-op.

Responsibilities:

  • Leverage product discovery techniques to find product market fit between emerging AI technologies and REI customers.

  • Establish the product vision and clearly translate the vision into requirements for the near term and long-term (3-year) roadmap.

  • Build a short and long-term learning agenda and craft clear experiments to identify opportunities and test our best ideas.

  • Manage a product team (or multiple teams) to solve the co-ops biggest and most complex customer problems, spanning across divisions.

  • Develop qualitative and quantitative data insights from customer research, data analysis and business analytics to help drive ideation and solutions.

  • Be recognized as the team’s authority on customer needs and consistently advocate effectively for the customer's point of view.

  • Work in partnership fluently with design, data science, and engineering to implement experiments. Recognize dependencies and remove barriers. Ensure smooth product delivery and proactively communicate risks to stakeholders.

  • Effectively communicate and align with multiple product teams, stakeholders, and executives to drive toward common goals.

  • Purposefully utilize and help improve product practices for the Co-op.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Over 10 years of experience working on digital consumer products, including over 7 years as a Product Manager or similar role.

  • Experience leading the full product innovation lifecycle for new products. This includes identifying opportunities, customer research, prototyping, testing, examining results, and iterating.

  • Experience delivering impactful customer experiences leveraging AI technologies (e.g. GenAI, deep learning, personalization, recommender systems, etc.).

  • Exceptional cooperative mindset and experience working with architects/engineers, data scientists, analysts, and UX designers.

  • Technical fluency and ability to clearly explain user and business benefits for different technologies. Comfortable discussing technology concepts, trade-offs, and new opportunities with team members.

  • Track record of delivering impactful products to a broad customer base in an agile environment.

  • Specialist at using a range of product discovery tools and inputs to inform product strategy.

  • Proven ability to leverage data and insights to make informed product recommendations including prioritization.

  • Able to self-serve data needs using the current infrastructure and seek additional data resources.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience working with omnichannel retail technology systems.

  • Experience managing initiatives across internal teams and external vendors.
