Job Description

Exceptional rural hospital is seeking a full-time Physician Assistant to provide health care services to patients in their Emergency Department in east central Montana.

Shifts: 24-hour and 36-hour shifts. The 24-hour shifts typically start at 10:00 and the 36-hour shifts start at 22:00. In a month each provider works the equivalent of seven 24-hour shifts. This can be a combination of 24-hour shifts and 36-hour shifts.

• Provide health care services to patients in the Emergency Department (ED) with guidance/supervision as needed from Hospitalist physician on duty
• Examines patient, takes medical history, records results, and makes diagnosis.
• Administers and orders diagnostic tests such as x-rays, electrocardiograms, and blood work; interprets test results.
• Performs therapeutic procedures in accordance with the medical staff privileges granted to them and approved by the organizational standards and licensure.
• Exercises professional judgment regarding consultation with supervising physicians concerning appropriate treatment.
• Develops and implements patient care plans, instructs, and counsels patients, and records progress.
• Prescribes medications to the extent allowable by state guidelines and organizational regulations.
• Maintain certifications necessary to provide care in the emergency and urgent care settings, as defined by medical staff credentialling.
• Must be comfortable dealing with all age groups including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients
